About

Colin Minigan (b.1994) is a Massachusetts-born composer whose recent music is concerned with natural phenomena, and the relationship between static and fluid elements of musical composition and performance. In addition to composition Colin spent time studying ethnomusicology and uses this perspective to inform his composition. 

In addition to concert music, he has frequently collaborated on dance projects with performances throughout the Northeast as well as in Minnesota and Oregon. He is also an administrator and curator of the Xsection Film Festival, a festival aimed at promoting collaboration between dance and science.

 

Colin obtained his B.A. in Music Composition and minor in Asian Studies from Skidmore College in 2016. He also studied West African, East and Central Asian music at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, and has attended the Wintergreen Summer Music festival, and the inaugural season of Connecticut Summerfest.

 

Colin has also studied composition privately with Daron Hagen and Anthony Holland, and Completed his Masters degree in composition at The Boston Conservatory at Berklee in 2020, studying with Eun Young Lee and Marti Epstein. Colin will begin work toward a PhD in Composition in the Fall of 2021 at the University of California, Davis. He also teaches piano, guitar, and percussion in the Boston Area.
